Vacancy: Project Leader Age of Wonderland
Apply before July 8th
For Age of Wonderland, a multiyear open-innovation program with a focus on social innovation where knowledge exchange between international creative makers takes the center stage during the Dutch Design Week (October 22 – 30, 2016), we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive project leader.
Age of Wonderland initiates knowledge exchange between creative doers and thinkers from non-western countries and the Dutch creative industries. The program is a joint realization by Hivos and Baltan Laboratories, and runs from July 15 until November 15, 2015. This position provides perspectives for prolongation.
This year’s theme is Big Data. Big DADA? The central question is how and in which way big & open data can contribute to a better world. Our international Age of Wonderland fellows paid their first visit to the Netherlands in May, to establish the first contacts and prepare their projects. From September until the beginning of November they will be in Eindhoven again to develop the projects and present them to the audience during the Dutch Design Week. Your main role is managing the production team and guiding the fellows involving all aspects such as finance, communication, content and production. You will be the main contact for the Dutch (creative) partners. You connect all the organizing parties participating in Age of Wonderland: Hivos, Baltan Laboratories and the Dutch Design Foundation.
You will work closely with the management of Baltan Laboratories and the program manager of Hivos. You realize and mentor the content of the research period (six weeks) from six creatives (Fellow) from Africa, Asia, Latin America – as well as their contribution to the Dutch Design Week. The latter in close collaboration with curation Arne Hendriks.
You work an average of 2-3 days a week, peaking before and during Dutch Design Week.
You are living in the vicinity of Eindhoven and are very well acquainted within the local design and technology network. You have experience in working with artists and you have proven affinity with the creative sector.
You are flexible and stress resistant. Even in busy times you manage to keep an overview, while prioritizing and communicating. Communicating in both English and Dutch is no problem. You know your way around MS Office, Excel and have good overall digital skills. You are able to create budgets and maintain them accurately.
You can match a higher professional education level in thinking and working. You can seamlessly combine the roles of director, assisting manager and producer. You have no objection to working an irregular schedule. As a project leader you recognize opportunities, are able to embrace them and to establish sustainable connections. As a team player you involve colleagues with the project and you function as both the internal and external contact of the program.
You report to the management of Baltan Laboratories and the program manager of Hivos.
Remuneration will happen in line with your experience and the standards in the cultural sector. Working on a freelance basis is a negotiable option. We are looking forward to receiving your letter of motivation and resume before July 8th, 2016. It may be addressed to Olga Mink: info [at] baltanlaboratories.org and Christine Wagner: tinew [at] xs4all.nl.
Interviews will take place on July 12 and 14 in Eindhoven.
