Dutch designer Daniel de Bruin developed the MONIAC installation for Economia festival, inspired by the Monetary National Income Analogue Computer (MONIAC), built by Bill Philips in 1949.

For Economia festival, De Bruin developed an analogous installation that invites you to play with the economic system. Up to four people can work the system at the same time by earning and spending money, which is visualized by metal balls. Someone must work to get the cashflow started by physically setting the machine in motion. To earn more money, you can choose to work longer and harder, invest, speculate on the stock market or gamble. By spending your money, you can consume and purchase candy. But watch out, prices can fluctuate!

Daniel created a fantastic teaser trailer for MONIAC:
