ECO Coin: Making a Resilient and Sustainable Economy the New Normal
    Talk by Lewis Just

Actionable solutions to our current global challenges, based on local, resilient, decentralized currency design.

In 1929 the first Great Depression hit the world. It was the widest and deepest depression of the 20th century. Today we not only stand on the edge of another economic depression but we are also teetering on the brink of a climate crisis that if we don’t act now, may be irreversible. Fortunately, any crisis can be turned into an opportunity for positive change to emerge.

    Capitalism after the Coronavirus
    Keynote by Paul Mason

Rethinking capitalism as a transitional economic form.

Paul Mason argues that our global economic model was already broken before the Covid-19 epidemic, and not just because of the problems contingent on the 2008 crisis. In his keynote lecture, he will discuss the need to rethink capitalism as a transitional economic form, promoting peer-production, automation, the network effect and information democracy.

Economy or: how I learned to stop worrying and love growth
Performative Talk by Arne Hendriks and Godelieve Spaas

As part of Economia festival Arne Hendriks, artists/researcher and Godelieve Spaas, professor New Economy at Avans, presented a special performative lecture about how value, growth and exchange are often founded in unrealistic modelling, promises of abundance and corrupted expectations.

How to win trust in stormy weather?
Performative Talk by Gijs de Boer

Why do old bank buildings look like temples? Why do we offer our bank card to a dirty machine in an alley at 2am? Why are all fintech apps white with a shade of blue? This is a performative talk on how aesthetics build trust. Gijs de Boer tries out different trust aesthetics, analyses their attractions and limitations, and explores an alternative way to design trust that tries to avoid fooling people.
