The Wedding lab is a temporary testing ground where love and technology converge. This High Tech wedding experience developed by Baltan Laboratories together with artists Lancel/Maat, investigates future forms of marriage in a technological society. The lab launches a new wedding ritual for a sustainable social future.
Date: 19, 20, 23, 25, 26, 27 Oct
Times: 13:00 – 19:00 (a wedding takes +/- 45 minutes)
Location: Dome outside Natlab
Registration: €20 per couple
When kissing, the wedding couples’ brain activity is measured with EEG sensors. The two patterns of the wedding kiss are materialized and 3d printed in two unique (wedding) rings. The rings encapsulate a code, representing their marriage contract, stored in a Blockchain system, no longer determined by restrictive social mores and local legislation.
In the Wedding Lab we will experiment with a new, personal form of temporary marriage: inclusive, international, with two people or with several people. A ritual that offers the pretext of exploring alternatives for marriage contracts and new ways to celebrate love and intimacy. To do so, we want to involve and marry people from different backgrounds and gender identities, including Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, Queer, Polyamorous, Pansexual and Heterosexuals. This test marriage has not yet a legal status but in the future this new wedding ritual may become legal.

Baltan Laboratories is looking for couples who want to be part of our wedding lab during the Dutch Design Week. If you and your partner or friend or loved one, would like to be one of the first wedding lab testers, we like to hear from you!
A Brainwave wedding ritual takes +/- 45 minutes and costs 20 Euro per couple.
Practicalities
A. Please note that subscribing together with someone is mandatory.
B. By joining the wedding lab you agree to be filmed/photographed.
C. We invite participants to discuss ideas and share opinions with us afterwards.
D. Your brainwave activity while kissing is translated into two 3d printed rings. The rings will be ready the same day.

Brainwave Wedding Lab is part of the Homo Sensorium program during Dutch Design Week in Natlab. Homo Sensorium welcomes you for a sensorial experience, exploring human perception and technology.
The program is a collaboration initiated by Baltan Laboratories with Broet and Natlab. Homo Sensorium at DDW is part of a multi-year trajectory developed by Baltan Laboratories and kindly supported by Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie, Stichting Cultuur Eindhoven and Provincie Noord-Brabant.
